The Future Of Diesel Cars

A new study has revealed that concerns over emissions have left UK motorists questioning the longevity of diesel cars.

Over the past few years, the reputation of diesel cars has been on the decline after revelations of how damaging the emissions can be to human health.  This has also come after the VW diesel scandal which is causing even more people to steer away from the fuel.

If you’ve been looking into getting a new car then remember we will buy your car!

A poll of 2,000 drivers in the UK found that:

  • 29% want diesel cars prohibited from all roads
  • 23% would support them being kept out of built-up areas

Seven in every 10 drivers are concerned that exhaust fumes are damaging their health.

Almost 80% are happy to support the introduction of exclusion zones for diesel vehicles near schools and hospitals.

This research was made after the VW diesel scandal which saw law firm Slater and Gordon representing over 45,000 people in a lawsuit.

It is estimated that there are 40,000 premature deaths in the UK each year as a consequence of air pollution as it has been linked to health implications such as heart disease and dementia.

People are starting to focus on getting more environmentally friendly, eco cars that are fuel efficient.  Originally this is what people thought diesel cars provided only to find out otherwise.

There has been a negative impact on the entire motor industry after certain manufacturers (VW)  have lied about their clean air tests.

To tackle the emission issue, the City of London announced earlier this week that it would trial a ban of all petrol and diesel cars in certain areas in order to tackle poor air quality.

The fastest way to improve urban air quality is by implementing bans such as this and continuing to promote more efficient and environmentally friendly cars.

Although there are concerns about diesel cars, as long as manufacturers are honest about emissions and testing then they will still rightly remain a popular choice for many consumers.  They are affordable and efficient for drivers who travel long distances frequently.
